Some of my fellow Canadians have said to me “Virgil” they said “Aren’t you worried about going south of the border during this fraught and fractious time?”  

I hesitate to get political in these pages but… the short answer is no. No, I am not concerned about heading down to The United States of Sodom and Gomorrah.

Not to be too me-centric about all this – I do have general concerns of course – but seriously, what do I, me, Rich Caplan, personally have to feel threatened about?

After all, I’m not an undocumented migrant worker, or a documented landed immigrant, or Latino.

Or a pregnant woman in need of life-saving surgery, or a pregnant woman, or a woman, or a teenaged girl. (lookin’ at you, Matt Gaetz).

Or a black man, or a black woman.

Or Ukrainian, or Taiwanese, or South Korean, or Israeli, or Palestinian.

Or an environmentalist.

Or a wind farmer.

Or a farmer.

Or a health-care worker.

Or a Democratic politician. Or a Republican politician.

Or someone with opinions.

Or a member of the left-wing media, or a consumer of media, or a consumer of food, or a consumer of medicine.

Or a homeowner, or a pet owner. or a senior citizen, or a foreigner, or a Jew…
