So, I’m at the Canadian Screen Awards last night sitting with my amazing client Mayko Nguyen and her very cool partner Mike, and on the other side of me is this decent looking fellow with facial hair, maybe late 40’s named Blank. (his name isn’t really “Blank”, idiots, I think it should be pretty obvious that I’m protecting his identity. You won’t get it out of me!) and he introduces himself, and he starts to tell me that he lives in a European country (he told me which one but I’m not going to say, obviously) and he says that he moved there lock, stock, and beard 8 years ago. I say “Wow, that’s a big undertaking, did you move there with family?” Just curious small talk. He says that he moved there by himself, knew nobody and didn’t speak the language (No, I’m not going to tell which language, you think I’m a moron?!), and he somehow managed to build up a big career as a film producer. Cool. He gives me his business card. Who still uses business cards? So, after the award show there is a cocktail party, I shmooze a bit, have a glass of rose and a tiny hamburger, and just as I’m leaving, the guy tracks me down, shakes my hand and says how nice it was to meet me. I say the same and then he says “Drop me an email” and coquettishly raises his two eyebrows to just below the ceiling. He does that twice. And then he winks. And of course, the first thing that goes through my head is “Why the fuck would I drop you a … ohhhhhhhhhhhh…”

I GOT HIT ON. It’s ten years AFTER I qualified for a 20% discount on Thursdays at Shoppers Drug Mart, and I got hit on. Who cares that he’s gay and I’m straight. Big deal. Everybody should just love who they love. The important thing is that I’m like a hundred and fifty years old and I got hit on.

I’m taking that confidence to the poker table.

Now it’s 11:30 AM. I’m here at Paris, checked my bags and ready. I’m ready to play! Put me in, Coach.

I’m heading over to Aria to play in a nice little tourney there. And tomorrow I’ll go into the WSOP Million Dollar Bounty here at Paris.
