So I made it to Day 2 of the Los Angeles Poker Classic $570
buy-in. There were 1062 entrants on Saturday and after 11 grueling hours, 85 persons made it to Sunday. Count
me among them! But alas, as is oft the case, I went into day two with a real
shorty of a stack. I stood 83 out of 85. Lotsa
work to do, and so little time to do it.
Five hands in, I found my spot with AT suited and pushed in all
my chips in less time than it takes for a tear to roll down Justin Trudeau’s
cheek. Just my luck, my AT ran into KK and my day ended five minutes after it
began. What a waste of a good shower.
I cashed for $1310.
OK, not a fortune, I agree, but in a tourney where I had AA
lose to AQ, JJ lose to 22, and AK lose to A7, I figure that’s not so bad. And
yes, I did win a pretty good pot with TT vs JJ so I suppose it works both ways,
eh? What can you do, that’s poker. You know what they say? If you don’t like the sound of shrapnel entering your body, maybe you
shouldn’t have joined the Army. OK, maybe nobody has ever said that, ever
in the history of the world.

Well, then again, there are a couple of $150 satellites going on tonight so maybe I’ll wander
down to the poker room a little later just for gits and shiggles. I just made that up. Horrible. If I ever use that expression again, don’t hesitate to shoot me on the spot.
In the meantime, listen, I suppose it’s good to make the
money and I’m going to try to look at it as just further evidence that I must
be doing something right. Ima figure this shit out, don’t you worry.
