Blog #70 "No One Remembers Who Came in Second – Fort Lauderdale Florida – January 22, 2018

·

See this guy?
See how he’s holding up a shitty Q5 suited? See the pretty
trophy in front of him that says “2018 Lucky Hearts Poker open, Seminole Hard
Rock Hotel Event #18 ?
You know what you don’t see in the picture? The guy he beat.
The guy who had him heads-up with an equal stack and had A6 clubs vs his Q5 and
got it all-in pre-flop and was therefore a 65% favorite to win the hand and the
tournament.
THAT SHOULDA BEEN ME IN THE PICTURE!!!!
But no, a lowly 5 on the flop
put the ki-bosh on all that. A stupid, innocent wide-eyed five of diamonds who
unfortunately just had no other place to be at the time.
So I came in Second place. I know I should be happy. $20,720
US dollars is a pretty good day’s work. But still. But still. But still.
There’s more to the story obviously and I’ll get around to
writing it sometime tonight.

Event 18 of the 2018 Lucky Hearts
Poker Open was a $1,100 Turbo No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry) tournament. It
drew 112 entries, with the top 14 spots being paid and first place paying
$33,600. The tournament finished in just more than seven hours, and it was
Michael Tureniec who earned the outright victory.

The 32-year-old Tureniec hails from
Stockholm, Sweden, and he is no stranger to success on the poker felt. With
this victory, Tureniec eclipsed the $4 million mark in career tournament
winnings according to The Hendon Mob poker database. It also marks his
fourth career cash at the Seminole Hard Rock and first guitar pick trophy.
