I first met Randy Lebow when we were six years old at Camp
Wahanowin. Well, we didn’t meet so much as I just knew about him and his
notoriousness. He was that kid who was always running away from camp. Every
camp has one of those. Although in his case I don’t think it was because he was
miserable or homesick or any of that sentimental stuff. In retrospect anyway, I
think he just wanted to see what would happen. How big would the search party
get? What time would they call the police? How long could he evade them? I
think at the time, for him it was all just a big gamble.

Easy to figure then why we became friends in Junior High,
and have stayed so for over 40 years. Randy is not just the life of the party,
he IS the party. And this party’s never over. He’s a competitive runner,
cyclist and mountain climber, and a kick-ass lawyer. And he’s very seldom
sober. That’s not easy. If you don’t get
a kick out of Randy Lebow you need to get yourself checked out. Simple as that.

In high school we nicknamed him Vic. It was short for
Victim, as he was the victim of every vice known to mankind. How can you not
admire that? He’s also a world-class Dad and somehow his awesome (probably
medal-worthy) wife Debbie has put up with him for 33 years.

And the two of us are off to Vegas for the WSOP Seniors
tournament, an event I’ve wanted to play in since the day I became (in the
eyes of the WSOP anyway) a 50 year-old senior. It starts on Friday morning.

This should be fun.
